International Squad Coaches

John Hay, Club Secretary, issued the following statement on 1 February 2019.

The Club has now appointed Club Coaches for the Over 60 and Over 65 squads. The International Sub Committee has worked hard to advertise these posts and with the approval of the Executive Committee I can inform you that the Over 60 Coach is Adam McInnes. Adam is a player at Kelburne Hockey Club with extensive playing experience at a high level, holds various coaching qualifications, and most recently coached Glasgow University Ladies 1 and assisted them to gain promotion to NL Div 1 plus gain success in various University tournaments and competitions.

The Over 65 Coach is our own Club member Ian Wilson who is also an experienced player with coaching qualifications and extensive coaching experience who was also a successful and popular Captain of the O60 team for several years prior to moving up to the O65 this season. As part of the coaching team he will be assisted by Donny Watson who will also fulfill the role of Team Manager.

These coaching positions will be funded by the players in each age group. It is hoped that a suitable coach for the Over 70 squad will be found in the near future. Various avenues are currently being explored to that end.

Following this announcement, on 10 February 2019, the Club appointed Sandy Keith as Over 70 International Coach, on the recommendation of Alan Auld to the International Sub Committee:

"Having known and worked with Sandy over a number of years I think he will do a great job. Sandy is currently the club coach of Granite City H.C. in Aberdeen and has, in the past, coached at both District and International level. He was also one of six coaches appointed by Scottish Hockey as part of the Aberdeen Asset Management coach development initiative which ran for three years. Apart from his on field coaching he is also part of the Scottish Hockey Coach Education Workforce and is both a tutor and assessor. As they say a man of many parts."
