2020 Internationals

England v Scotland Over 70 Durham 10 March 2020

Scotland Over 70 played the annual match against England Over 70 at the Graham Sports Centre, Maiden Castle, Durham on 10 March - this proved to be the one and only international played in 2020.

Scotland gave a good account of themselves, holding their opponents to 0-0 until added on time at the end of the first quarter, England being unable to increase their lead until the third period when an unlucky break of the ball led to their scoring a second. The Scots gave as good as they got in the fourth quarter but England did what England do and ran in another two goals to finish 4-0 winners. report

World Cup Tokyo Japan 4-15 November 2020

The main event of the year was tobe the Grand Masters World Cup competition in Tokyo from 5 to 15 November 2020. Matches were to be played at two different venues: at the Oi Olympic Hockey Field, where there are three water based Poligrass pitches, and at the Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports ground, where the 1964 Olympics were held, and where there is one sand dressed pitch (renewed in 2017). The decision to cancel the tournament was delayed, and Scotland had already reduced its participation to a single Over 60 team when the tournament was first postponed until 2021, then cancelled altogether. Japan will host the 2022 World Masters Hockey Cup for 60+ in November 2022.

Training sessions and selection events for each age group were planned - see the 2020 Calendar for details.
