In 2019, for the first time, Scottish Thistles will field Over 65 teams in tournaments.

The first match of the year was a friendly against a North of England select in Cumbria on Sunday 27 January -final score 1-3. report

The first Scottish Thistles tournament of the year will be the annual Jacques Lévy Superveterans Tournament in Lille (15-17 March).

Thistles have accepted an invitation to the Tilburg Superveterans Tournament on 26-28 April and will field a team in each of the two age groups, hopefully with the same personnel as in the Grand Masters European Tournament Trophy in June.

Scottish Thistles will participate in an England LX event that we have participated in over recent years as Over 70s, in Cockermouth on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May. Excellent camaraderie and good hockey. We have intimated that we will try to enter two age group teams this year, one at Over 65 and one at Over 60. This is a Thistles open event and is an excellent opportunity, one week before the Aberdeen Competition, for all those members of the Club wishing to hone their skills and fitness. Doodle poll

Aberdeen is the venue for the 2019 Four Nations Tournament (formerly Home Internationals) on 24-26 May. The tournament, which will be played on two pitches at Countesswells and a pitches at Aberdeen Sports Village and Rubislaw, will include for the first time a B international Over 60 tournament in parallel with the Four Nations event.

The main tournament of 2019 will be the Grand Masters European Hockey Cup at KHC Dragons, Brasschaat, Belgium from 19-29 June. 79 teams have registered to take part and we have entered Scottish Thistles B International Over 60 and Over 65 teams in the Tournament Trophy.

The 2019 Dragons Tournament will take place on the weekend of 3-4 August.

Scottish Thistles will be at Durham University for the England LX North East Tour matches, in which the opposition is usually LX Red, LX White, the Welsh Dragons and possibly a Dutch Team. Selection will be on a first come first served basis and up to now we have only taken one Thistle Team. This is a very enjoyable tour and the English have been unbelievably hospitable. Costs tend to be quite low with a tour dinner of around £25 cost and a tournament fee of £20.
