Pitch 3: Ashmole Academy, Cecil Road, Southgate London N14 5RJ. This is on the 121 bus route from the London Enfield Travelodge (stay on the bus past Oakwood Station), and there are changing rooms, team briefing rooms and a cafeteria at the school. There is ample parking there too.

None of our usual chiropractors can make it to Southgate and we have drawn a blank in a search for a local chiropractor. However, thanks to John Connaghan, we have secured the services of the Murphy Physiotherapy Clinic - Sean Murphy will be on site at Southgate for two hours each day with the possibility of extending that if necessary. The cost of providing this service will be added to your bill for the tournament - John expects it to be in the region of £20 per person.

Other Costs

You'll be billed after the event for your share of the physiotherapist (estimated at £20), coach (estimated no more than £10 per head), tournament fee (£600 per team) and presentations (estimated at around £15 per person). Those going to one or both of the social functions will also be billed for the Sunday reception (£15) and/or the Wednesday tournament party (£17).

Tournament Party Wednesday 26 August 19:00-24:00

The price of £17 includes a buffet with dessert (drinks extra). A limited number of tickets for the party may be available at the club until Sunday 23 August.

Participants: Paul Bateson, Alan Bremner, Fred Lawson, Neil MacLeod, Doug Morrice, Alistair Ogilvie, Dick & Eileen Pearce, Keith Raper, Tony & Kathryn Walker, Sandy & Jean Weir.

There is supposed to be a shuttle bus between Oakwood Underground Station/bus stop and the club for those arriving by public transport - if anyone sees it, let Ian Downie know! From the London Enfield Travelodge, it is a half mile walk up Great Cambridge Road to bus stop J on Southbury Road where you can catch a 121 or 307 bus to Oakwood Station (journey time 30 minutes, every 12 minutes during the day). Oakwood Station is on the Piccadilly Underground line. The unions have called off the proposed strikes affecting Underground services for 24 hours from 21:00 on Tuesday 25 August (so for most of Wednesday 26 August) and 24 hours from 21:00 on Thursday 27 August (so for most of Friday 28 August).

There's a flat fare of £1.50 per single journey on buses and you can't pay with cash - you must use an Oyster Card, contactless credit or debit card, or Apple Pay. On buses, swipe the card only on boarding the bus. On the Underground or trains, swipe on and off as the fare depends on the journey length.
