Scottish Thistles v Isle of Man Select Glasgow Green 23 April 2015

Scottish Thistles squeezed in a friendly against a much younger Isle of Man touring side the day before a number of the players would be travelling to Northern Ireland for the 2015 Celtic Cup. Hampered by a number of late withdrawals, they were forced to recruit Chris Flight, ex Harris Academy, who turned out to be the man of the match for the Scots and who scored for them in the first half.

Scottish Thistles were guilty of giving the ball away cheaply in the first half and this was to prove costly against opponents to whom they were giving away one or more decades in most cases. The sides turned round with Isle of Man 2-1 to the good. Some encouragement, along with a number of positional changes, steadied the ship in the second half and Thistles played better, but with no better result. The final score is slightly uncertain, with two correspondents giving it as 4-2 for Isle of Man and two giving it as 5-2. What is certain is that Alan Parker scored the second Scottish Thistles goal.
