WGMA European Cup Amstelveen, Netherlands 26-28 August 2009In the Grand Masters competition, Scotland Over 60s played against England and Germany in pool matches over the first two days, losing heavily to the eventual winners, England, and putting in a more creditable performance against Germany, the bronze medallists. The final game for 5th and 6th position ended in disappointment when Scotland lost for the first time against Italy to end in 6th place in the competition. Wednesday 26 August: Thursday 27 August: Friday 28 August: Four teams took part in the Great Grand Masters competition: England, Germany, Netherlands and Scotland. This competition was a round robin to determine a ranking, followed by games on the final day to determine places 1 & 2, and 3 & 4. England once again triumphed in the final against Netherlands, while Scotland's hopes of a bronze medal place were dashed by a last minute German goal in the 3rd-4th place playoff match.
